Zodiac Leo - with a video

Hi there! Today I'm sharing an octagon shaped card that I made with the amazing Visible Image Zodiac Leo stamps.

Honestly, I have been really impressed with the versatility of this particular set and I've been busy making quite a few cards with these images. If you were at Creativation and visited the Visible Image stand you may have seen the Leo shaker card that I made. You can catch it in the video that Helen and Mark made of their amazing stand before the show opened up by clicking HERE
And I'm really thrilled that they had such a great show too.

So, to my card....

I made a video whilst I was making this card and you can see it by clicking HERE

On the main panel, stamp the large Leo image in clear ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. Colour the image by scribbling distress markers onto a craft sheet and watercolouring with the ink, adding a little definition around the eyes and ears. Cover the image with masking fluid  and set aside to dry.

Whilst the main panel is drying, create the base mat by wetting the water colour paper and adding distress stains. Wet the area of the card that you want to be all inky and 'pounce' distress stains over the area. Dry with a heat tool and when almost dry, spritz water on it to create some added interest.

Add colour to the main panel in the same way: wet, pounce, dry and spritz. Rub a little chipped sapphire distress ink around the edge of the main panel with a blending tool.  Stamp the Leo word and dates in place with memento tuxedo black ink. Leave to dry completely.

When dry, make a mask for the Leo image from a post-it note (if you removed the masking fluid too early) and cover the image up. Stamp the constellations around the Leo image in clear ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder.

Attach the main panel to some white card and using a perfect layers tool, trim it so that there is a 1/16" border of white. Add all the layers to the card blank.

Use some microglaze on the lion image so that the distress colours won't start to wick and move when they get wet again. Then add stickles to the mane around the lion face and let dry.

The ScanNcut instructions for making the card blank and mats are in a post where I used the No Space for Dreams set. You can see those by clicking:
